Shimano Currentsniper XR Shore Jigging 10’6 70g JIG90g 2pc

Shimano Currentsniper XR Shore Jigging 106 | The Long-Range JDM Master

At Gerrys Fishing, we highlight the Shimano Currentsniper XR 106 (MH/PS model) as the ultimate choice for anglers who need maximum casting distance and superior leverage. This specialized Plugging Special (PS) model is optimized for 90g metal jigs and 70g plugs. The extra foot of length compared to the 96 models provides a massive advantage when fishing from high rock ledges or wide beaches where reaching distant reefs and current seams is critical.

As part of Shimanos high-end JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) lineup, the Currentsniper XR 106 combines incredible reach with the sharp responsiveness and lifting power required to steer large predators like Dentex, Amberjack, and Bonito away from underwater obstructions.

Elite JDM Blank Technologies

• Spiral X Core: Shimanos premier blank construction technology. By using high-strength carbon tape in a triple-layer structure, it provides exceptional torsional and crushing rigidity. This ensures the 106 blank remains stiff and powerful during explosive long-range casts, preventing any wobble that could sap energy.

• Hi-Power X: The outer layer is reinforced with an X-pattern carbon wrap. This technology reduces blank twist and enhances the rods overall sharpness, allowing for precise lure manipulation even at the end of a 100-meter cast.

• Nanopitch: A specialized manufacturing process that applies high, uniform pressure during the baking of the blank. This creates a highly circular and consistent structure, maximizing the rods strength and sensitivity while keeping the overall weight remarkably low for its length.

• Screw Lock Joint: To handle the increased torque of a 106 lever, Shimano uses a high-performance screw-lock system at the joint. This ensures the two sections stay perfectly aligned and provides the stable feel of a one-piece rod during intense fights.

Professional Saltwater Components

• Fuji K-Type Stainless Steel SiC Guides: These tangle-free guides are essential for managing high-PE braided lines. The SiC (Silicon Carbide) inserts are diamond-hard and super smooth, dissipating heat during long runs to protect your line and ensure consistent casting performance.

• Fuji DPS Reel Seat with Double Locking Nut: Designed for heavy-duty saltwater use, the double-nut system ensures your reel remains rock-solid. It wont loosen during the repetitive, aggressive mechanical action of shore jigging or when putting maximum pressure on a big fish.

• Ergonomic EVA Grip: The high-density EVA handle is shaped for maximum leverage and comfort. The extended grip length is perfect for the long-handle casting style and provides a secure under-arm tuck when fighting large predators.

Use Example: Maximum Distance from High Ledges

Imagine standing on a steep coastal cliff or a high breakwater. The fish are busting the surface at the very limit of your casting range. You need a rod that can launch a 60g stickbait or an 80g jig into the wind and still have the length to clear the rocks below you when landing a fish.

The Currentsniper XR 106 MH/PS is built for this exact scenario. The 106 length generates incredible tip speed for extreme distance, while the moderate-fast action provides a smooth load that launches lures with surgical precision. When a 5kg+ Bonito or Amberjack hits, the extra length gives you a superior angle to keep the line away from sharp barnacles and ledge edges, while the Spiral X Core backbone provides the stable lifting power to bring the fish to the surface.
