Shimano 25 Exsence Genos S96M/RF 96 7-40g 2pc The Versatile Long-Range All-Rounder

The 2025 Shimano Exsence Genos S96M/RF is the definitive all-rounder for the serious coastal angler. Positioned as a more versatile and user-friendly alternative to the flagship Infinity, the 96 (2.90m) length is the classic choice for UK and European sea bass fishing. At Gerrys Fishing, we recommend the S96M/RF for its ability to handle a massive variety of luresfrom 10g surface sliders to 40g metal jigswhile providing the reach needed to clear surf and rocks.

The unique RF (Regular-Fast) taper is the secret to its versatility; it remains crisp and responsive for long-distance casting but offers a smooth, progressive bend when under pressure, ensuring you stay in control during the most chaotic fights.

Key Specifications

Product Details & Performance Features

• Spiral X Core & Nanopitch: This rod features Shimanos most advanced blank construction. Spiral X Core uses high-strength resin to create a blank that resists twisting and crushing, while Nanopitch ensures the carbon is wrapped with extreme precision. The result is a rod that feels alive in your hands and launches lures with incredible tip speed.

• Regular-Fast Taper (RF): Unlike ultra-stiff poker rods, the S96M/RF is designed to load deeply and smoothly. This makes it much easier to cast consistently long distances with a wide variety of lure weights (7-40g). When playing a fish, the regular-fast action acts as a shock absorber, protecting thin braids and preventing hook-pulls in the surf.

• Carbon Monocoque Handle: The signature hollow carbon handle eliminates the need for vibration-dampening EVA. This creates a direct connection between the blank and your hand, allowing you to feel the beat of your lure and distinguish between a strike and a bump against submerged structure.

• Titanium X-Guides: By utilizing Shimanos own 3D-designed Titanium guides, the overall weight of the rod is kept to a minimum. The reduced mass in the tip section allows for a much faster recovery speed after the cast, which is essential for achieving maximum distance.

• Premium Ergonomics: The CI4+ Perfection Reel Seat is designed to fit the palm naturally, reducing fatigue during long sessions. The understated matt-black stealth finish reflects the premium JDM heritage of the Exsence brand.

Gerrys Pro Tip: The S96M/RF is the rod we suggest if you do a mix of everythingestuaries, open beaches, and rocky marks. It is long enough to give you the distance you need on the coast, but sensitive enough to work small soft plastics in a calm harbor. It is truly the one rod to rule them all in the 2025 Genos lineup.
