Savage Gear Defiance SG2 Distance Game 2.90m 15-50g 2pcs

Savage Gear Defiance SG2 Distance Game 2.90m 15-50g

The All-Rounder: Finesse, Distance, and Versatility

The Savage Gear Defiance SG2 Distance Game 15-50g is arguably the most versatile rod in the Distance Game lineup. While heavier rods are built for brute force casting, this 50g model is the technicians tool. It is designed for the angler who needs to punch a lure to the horizon but still wants the sensitivity to work a 15g soft plastic or a 20g surface popper with pinpoint accuracy.

At 2.90m (9ft 6in), it provides the essential leverage required to generate high tip speed for long-range shore casting. Built on a premium 24T and 30T high-modulus carbon blank, the rod features a fast, progressive action. This ensures the tip is crisp enough for lure manipulation, while the mid-section loads smoothly to absorb the explosive runs of a specimen Bass or hard-fighting Pike.

Why the Distance Game 50g is a Gerrys Choice:

• Perfect Crossover Rating: The 15-50g range is the Goldilocks zone for UK lure fishing. It is light enough to enjoy fighting schoolie Bass or Perch, but possesses the hidden muscles to handle double-figure predators in a heavy tide.

• Toray Carbon Sensitivity: The high-modulus carbon blend acts as a high-definition sensor, transmitting the tick of a lure touching a stone or the subtle pluck of a shy fish directly to your hand.

• SeaGuide Saltwater Hardware: Equipped with SeaGuide Gunsmoke SW guides and a Gold Label reel seat, this rod is armored for the salt but equally at home on a freshwater bank. The guide train is optimized for ultra-thin braids, ensuring friction-free flow for maximum distance.

• Fatigue-Free Casting: Weighing significantly less than its heavier siblings, this rod is a joy to use for long sessions. The extended high-density EVA handle provides the perfect fulcrum for two-handed power casting.

Where to Use the Defiance SG2 Distance Game 50g in the UK

• Morecambe Bay & The North West: For our local anglers at Heysham or Fleetwood, this is a superb channel rod. Its ideal for casting 30g40g metal jigs or soft plastics into the deep-water runs as the tide floods, clearing the boulders with its 96 reach.

• The Atlantic Coast (Cornwall & Wales): A top choice for targeting Bass in the surf. The 50g rating allows you to use standard-sized hard baits and soft plastics while having enough length to keep your line above the breaking waves.

• Large Freshwater Reservoirs: This rod is a secret weapon for Pike and Zander anglers. If you need to cast a 20g shad or a spinner-bait to a distant drop-off from the shore, the Distance Game is the tool for the job.

• South Coast Estuaries: Ideal for the tidal reaches of the Solent or the Exe. It provides the distance needed to reach the far bank or distant weed-lines where predators lie in ambush.

• European Coastal Travel: If you are heading to the Med for Bonito or Leerfish, this rod is light enough for all-day sport but has the backbone to stop a pelagic predator from reaching the rocks.

The Gerrys Fishing Verdict:

The Savage Gear Defiance SG2 2.90m 50g is a masterclass in balance. It offers the distance of a shore-jigging rod with the sensitivity of a finesse lure rod. If you want one rod that can handle everything from estuary Bass to reservoir Pike with total precision, this is the one to tie on.
